Western Colorado and eastern Utah
The Western Slope's gold, silver and coin dealer, with every offer explained.
The Gold Guy buys and sells gold, silver, coins, bullion and jewelry for the Western Slope and eastern Utah. He serves Fruita, Palisade and Clifton, Delta and Montrose, Rifle and Glenwood Springs, and Moab over the Utah line, all from Grand Junction.
He takes his time with every seller. Your pieces are tested and weighed while you watch, and the offer is yours on a sheet of paper.
- You watch every test and read the scale yourself.
- Your offer is written down, with the sums where you can check them.
- Sell all of it, some of it or none of it, as you please.

Why people across the Western Slope choose the Gold Guy
You deal with the Gold Guy himself
The man who looks over your items is the one who makes the offer. He tells you what he is checking and why.
The math is on the page
Your offer lists the weight, the purity, the metal price we used that day and the total, so you can run the numbers again at your own kitchen table.
Coins get a collector's eye first
Every coin is looked over for collector value before a scale comes into it.
You are treated better here
A coffee can of old quarters gets the same patience here as a tray of gold bars.
What we buy and sell
We buy gold however it turns up, from wedding bands and broken chains to dental gold, coins and bars. We buy sterling flatware, silver dollars, bullion, coin collections and whole estates in the boxes the family found them in.
We sell as well. The Coin Vault is our online store for coins and bullion, and members of the Gold Guy Club get member pricing on eligible pieces there. The Gold Guy also wrote REAL MONEY, his book on buying and selling gold and silver.
How selling to us works
- Send us a few lines. Tell us what you have and about how much, and we reply with what to bring.
- Bring it to the Gold Guy. Come with your items and a photo ID. We go through the lot with you one piece at a time.
- Decide in your own time. The offer is in writing, and nobody hurries you. Say yes, and we pay you within 24 hours.
Your items, your call.
An offer from us is complimentary, and it ties you to nothing. Sell the whole lot, sell part and keep part, or carry everything back out the door. Silence never counts as a yes with us.
Picking a dealer who shows his work is the prudent way to sell, because you can check the number yourself.

Frequently asked questions
Which Western Slope towns does the Gold Guy buy gold and silver from?
We serve all of western Colorado and eastern Utah, including Grand Junction, Fruita, Palisade, Clifton, Delta, Montrose, Rifle, Glenwood Springs and Moab. Each of those towns has its own page with directions to the store.
What should I bring when I sell gold or silver to the Gold Guy?
Bring the items just as you found them, and bring a photo ID. The law has us write down who we buy from.
How is an offer on gold or silver worked out?
The weight, the purity and that day's metal price go into it. Scrap gold has to be refined before it is used again, so it is figured on its refined value.
What if I have no idea what I have?
Then you are like a good many people who walk in. We name each piece for you before any price comes up.
Tell us what you have.
A few lines will do. Tell us what it is, roughly how much of it there is, and any stamps or dates you can read, and we will write back with what to bring and what to expect. If you are still working out what is in the box, the seller quiz will sort it out in a few minutes.
