Home / Gold buyer: areas we serve
Palisade, Colorado
Sell silver near Palisade and find out exactly what is in the chest.
Silver has a way of sitting quietly in Palisade homes, in a flatware chest, a coffee can of old quarters or a tea set nobody has polished in years. Some of it is solid silver, and some of it only looks the part.
The Gold Guy sorts it with you, shows you the marks that separate sterling from plate, and picks out the coins that deserve a closer look.
- You see which pieces are sterling and which are plate.
- Old coins are checked for collector value before the scale comes out.
- Every figure in the offer is put down on paper for you.

Why Palisade brings its silver to the Gold Guy
We show you the marks
Sterling is 92.5 percent silver, and it is marked "sterling" or "925". EPNS and the word "plate" mean silver plate. We turn each piece over with you so you can find the mark yourself.
We are straight about knives
A sterling knife handle is a thin shell of silver over filler, with a steel blade. We tell you so before the knives are weighed, and the total never comes as a surprise.
The date decides the silver
We check the date on every coin in the can. A dime, quarter or half dollar from 1964 or before is 90 percent silver, and a Kennedy half from 1965 through 1970 is 40 percent. Wartime nickels, the 1942 to 1945 ones with the big mint mark above the dome, are 35 percent.
Silver dollars get a second look
A Morgan or Peace dollar has roughly three quarters of a troy ounce of silver in it, and some bring far more than that from a collector. Those are set to one side and priced as coins.
The scale faces you
Sterling is tested and weighed where you can read the numbers. The weight, the purity, the day's silver price and the total all go on your offer.
The silver, coins and gold we buy from Palisade
We buy sterling forks, spoons, serving pieces, bowls, trays and tea sets, along with sterling jewelry, silver bars, rounds and American Silver Eagles. A monogram, a dent or a coat of tarnish takes nothing away from the silver in a piece, so the polish can stay in the cupboard.
Coins come in rolls, folders, jars and albums, and we buy them all. Gold is welcome on the same visit, from a single ring to coins and bars.
From the silver chest to an offer in three steps
- Bring the whole chest. There is no need to sort or count first. Tell us roughly what you have, then bring it with a valid photo ID.
- We sort it together. Sterling, plate and coins are separated on the table while you watch. The sterling goes on the scale, and the coins are read by date.
- You choose what happens next. The offer is yours on paper. Accept it, and we pay you within 24 hours by check, ACH transfer or store credit.
Your silver, your decision.
A family flatware set is easy to feel two ways about. Our offer is complimentary and carries no obligation, so you can hear the number and go home to talk it over.
If part of the set turns out to be plate, we tell you kindly and hand it back. Finding out which pieces are silver costs you nothing, and it is the sensible thing to know before you decide.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I sell silver near Palisade?
The Gold Guy buys silver from Palisade, Clifton, De Beque and all of Mesa County. Your pieces are sorted and weighed in front of you, and the offer is put in writing.
Is there a coin dealer near Palisade who buys old silver coins?
Yes, and we buy them by the roll, the jar or the album. A scarce date is priced as a coin, and the common ones are priced on their silver.
Does tarnish lower what sterling silver is worth?
Tarnish does nothing to the silver content, and cleaning a coin lowers what a collector pays for it. Please leave everything just as it is.
Do I need ID to sell silver?
Please bring a valid government-issued photo ID. State and federal law require dealers in Colorado to record who they buy from.
Tell us what you have.
A few lines will do. Tell us what it is, roughly how much of it there is, and any stamps or dates you can read, and we will write back with what to bring and what to expect. If you are still working out what is in the box, the seller quiz will sort it out in a few minutes.
