Home / Gold buyer: areas we serve
Fruita, Colorado
A gold buyer near Fruita who shows you what your jewelry really is.
If you are looking for a gold buyer near Fruita, chances are the gold is sitting in a jewelry box. Before any of it is priced, we go through that box with you and read every stamp.
The tiny marks inside a ring say what the maker claimed, and the Gold Guy will show you how to read them. Then each piece is tested, because the stamp is a claim and the test is the answer.
- You learn what 10K, 14K and 585 mean on your own pieces.
- Each item is tested and weighed while you look on.
- The written offer names the weight and the karat it was figured on.

Why Fruita families bring their gold to the Gold Guy
We read the stamps with you
Karat is a count out of 24 parts. A 10K ring is 41.7 percent gold, a 14K ring is 58.3 percent and an 18K ring is 75 percent, and the three-digit marks 417, 585 and 750 give those same figures in thousandths. We put the loupe on each stamp and let you look.
Plated pieces are called what they are
GF means gold-filled, GP means gold-plated and HGE means heavy gold electroplate. When a piece carries one of those marks we point it out, and the piece goes back in your hand.
Everything is tested anyway
Stamps wear away, and now and then one is wrong. A test settles it, and any test that might leave a small mark waits for your go-ahead.
Each karat is weighed on its own
Your 10K and your 14K go on the scale in separate piles and in plain view, so higher-karat gold is never priced as lower-karat gold.
You keep what matters to you
Sell the tangled chains and hold on to your mother's band if you like. We take one piece at a time, and you say which pile it lands in.
The gold and jewelry we buy from Fruita
We buy rings, chains, bracelets, pendants, charms and dental gold, bent and broken pieces included. Jewelry sold for its gold is valued on what the gold weighs and how pure it is. Scrap is priced on what a refiner will get out of it, and that can run under the spot price you looked up at home.
Stones are valued apart from the metal. If you would like a rough figure before you come, the live spot page has a melt-value calculator.
How selling gold near Fruita works
- Gather it up as it is. Polishing and untangling can wait. Send us a line or two about what is in the box.
- Watch it read, tested and weighed. Bring the jewelry and a photo ID. We sort it by karat in front of you and tell you what each step is for.
- Take the offer or take your time. You get the figures in writing. Say yes and we pay you within 24 hours. You pick a check, an ACH transfer or store credit.
No pressure, and no hard feelings.
The offer costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Plenty of jewelry carries more feeling than gold, and if you decide a piece should stay in the family, we hand it back gladly.
It is prudent to know what you own before you sell it. You go home with the facts on every piece in the box, even if you sell nothing at all.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a gold buyer near Fruita who explains the offer?
Yes. The Gold Guy serves Fruita, Loma, Mack and the rest of Mesa County, and every offer comes in writing with the weight, the karat and the metal price shown.
Can I sell jewelry near Fruita if the stamp has worn off?
You can. Worn and missing stamps turn up all the time, and they are the reason we test every piece ourselves.
What do 22K and 916 mean inside a ring?
Both mark 22 karat gold, which is 91.7 percent pure. It goes in a pile of its own.
What ID do I need to sell gold?
Any valid government-issued photo ID will do. Colorado and federal law have dealers keep a record of every seller.
Do you buy silver and coins from Fruita as well?
We do. Sterling, silver dollars, old coins and bullion are welcome on the same visit.
Tell us what you have.
A few lines will do. Tell us what it is, roughly how much of it there is, and any stamps or dates you can read, and we will write back with what to bring and what to expect. If you are still working out what is in the box, the seller quiz will sort it out in a few minutes.
