Home / Gold buyer: areas we serve
Delta, Colorado
A gold buyer near Delta who wants you to check his math.
Before you carry a box of gold out of Delta, put it on the kitchen scale. Ten minutes at the table with a scale that reads in grams and the calculator on our live spot page will tell you roughly what the metal is worth.
Then bring the box and your figure to the Gold Guy. We test and weigh every piece while you watch, write the offer down with the arithmetic beside it, and lay your number next to ours.
- A kitchen scale and our calculator give you the metal value before you leave home.
- Old dimes, quarters and halves are counted by face value, so a coffee can goes quickly.
- When your figure and ours differ, we show you where the difference came from.

Why people from Delta bring their own numbers to the Gold Guy
Your homework is welcome
Lay your notes on the counter next to our scale. A seller who has done the sums is easy to deal with, because the two of us are reading off one page.
You hear what we are looking at
The Gold Guy goes through your items himself, and he says what he is checking and why as he does it.
The test backs up the stamp
The stamp inside a band says what the maker meant, and the test says what the metal is. Every piece gets tested and then weighed where you can read the number.
The box goes home if you say so
Sell all of it or sell half. You can also take the written offer home to Delta and sleep on it.
What we buy from Delta County, and how to size it up at home
We buy gold jewelry and scrap gold, sterling, old silver coins, bullion, coin collections and whole estates, sorted or unsorted.
For the gold, make a pile for each karat stamp and weigh each pile in grams. In the calculator, enter the weight, choose grams as the unit and pick the karat on the stamp, such as 14K or 10K, and it converts the grams and does the multiplying at today's price. If your kitchen scale reads in ounces, switch it to grams, because the troy ounce that gold is priced by is about a tenth heavier than a kitchen ounce.
Old silver is quicker. Pull out every dime, quarter and half dollar dated 1964 or earlier, since those are 90 percent silver, and add up the face value, which is the number the calculator asks for. Kennedy halves from 1965 through 1970 are 40 percent silver, so pile those separately.
Three steps from your kitchen table to a written offer
- Weigh and count at home. Pile the gold by stamp, weigh each pile in grams, total the face value of the old silver, and jot it all on one sheet.
- Bring the box and the sheet. Have a valid government-issued photo ID with you. Coins are looked over first, and then each piece is tested and weighed in front of you.
- Put the two figures side by side. Our offer costs you nothing, and it comes on paper with the math. Say yes and your payment is on its way within 24 hours, by check, ACH transfer or store credit, or in cash across the counter when we both agree to it.
Your decision, with both sets of figures in your hand.
An offer you can check is an offer you can trust. Ours gives the weight, the purity, the metal price we used that day and the total.
If the number is right, say yes. If you would sooner keep a ring, a handful of coins or the whole box, it goes home with you. Selling to a dealer who shows his math is the prudent way to go about it, and you will be treated better here than you expect.

Frequently asked questions
How can I check the math when I sell gold near Delta?
The Gold Guy writes every offer out with its math, and a seller from Delta who brings a tally is shown line by line where the two agree.
Where can I sell silver coins near Delta, Colorado?
Bring them to the Gold Guy, a coin shop and gold buyer near Delta, in the can or the jar they came in. Morgan and Peace dollars are set apart from the dimes and quarters, because a silver dollar holds more silver than a dollar's worth of the smaller coins and is priced one coin at a time.
What if my figure comes out higher than your offer?
Then we go through it together. The usual reasons are a kitchen ounce counted as a troy ounce, a gold-filled piece marked GF sitting in the gold pile, or scrap figured at the full spot price. Scrap gold is refined before anyone resells it, so we price it on its refined worth.
Do you buy from Cedaredge, Orchard City, Hotchkiss, Paonia and Crawford?
We do, and from everywhere else in Delta County. One class ring is tested as carefully as a full box.
Tell us what you have.
A few lines will do. Tell us what it is, roughly how much of it there is, and any stamps or dates you can read, and we will write back with what to bring and what to expect. If you are still working out what is in the box, the seller quiz will sort it out in a few minutes.
